SPTL053 - Chronicle - Inner Life

Label regular Chronicle returns with another glorious exploration of sound in his latest EP for Spatial, serving up a thoroughly absorbing treat for the ears.

A1 - Sunlight Reflecting On The Tigris

Spatial: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Chronicle. His ongoing mission: to explore strange new soundscapes, to see out new synths and new curious samples, with his inimitable energy and verve. To lay down crisp old school breakbeats that move the needle for all who listen, reminding us of yesteryear with a cheery modern twist. To boldly produce how no producer has produced before!

A2 - Eden Project

Opening with a silky smooth effects-laden intro punctuated by chirpy bleeps and light hi hats, Eden Project soon kicks into life with a deliciously detailed break pattern blending a variety of old school beats, ebbing and flowing with an upbeat tone while a warm, flowing 808 bassline simmers below. Another fine example of Chronicle’s unique take on Spatial’s interstellar atmospherics.

AA1 - Twin Galaxies

A real treat in store for us here as Chronicle shoots for the high score with a plethora of swirling twilight synths, beckoning forth a tight, crisp 2-step breakbeat with layers and layers of detail added throughout. Keen fans will welcome the return of the “Gimme your love” vocal sample heard on Shogun’s Renegade classic Nautilus, which fits the tone perfectly here to joyous effect.

AA2 - A Mind Forever Voyaging

Completing another superb entry in the Spatial archives, A Mind Forever Voyaging showcases Chronicle’s varied skillset with a jubilant piece combining distinctive flutes, jostling, flamboyant FX and a textured drum pattern to die for as crunchy 2-step breaks are punctuated with a subtle metallic snare and whirring deep bass, while dancing sonics and an eerie focal melody circle the skies above.
