ASC & Aural Imbalance - Static Motion [pre order] 12"
SPTL051 - ASC & Aural Imbalance - Static Motion
Spatial’s premier duo return with a brand new EP primed to hit the discerning dancefloor with a typical focus on those stunning old school breaks.
A1 - Retrograde
Armed with a thunderous break seldom heard in the atmospheric scene, Retrograde bridges perceived gaps between our beloved sound and heavier dancefloor-oriented drum & bass in a scintillating style which has to be heard loud to be fully appreciated. Following the epic synth-heavy breakdown, Spatial’s premier duo unleash a devilishly addictive melody for the ages, ensuring this masterclass of a production transcends sonic boundaries as if they didn’t exist.
A2 - Pulse State
An immediately intoxicating atmosphere builds from the off with an exquisite Circles break, earthy sub bass and light effects swooping in and out of the limelight, ASC and Aural Imbalance combining their melodic versatility with a heavy dose of thoughtful synthwork and serene, minimal samples playfully swirling around the crunchy breakbeats - just how we like it here at Spatial.
AA1 - Hyperspace
A change of pace for James & Simon’s ongoing collaborative adventures with a uniquely bongo-scattered intro ushering forth the unique break previously immortalised in ASC’s Polaris, arranged in epic fashion with a welcome callback to classic sci-fi 720 vibes. Micro melodies and an enthusiastic bassline do battle for your attention alongside heavily filtered vocal samples as the breaks do their thing in style.
A2 - Frozen Realm
Closing a truly breathtaking EP we have Frozen Realm, a deeply atmospheric piece opening smoothly with reverberating synthwork and a cacophony of exquisite ambient soundscapes and luscious samples taking you on an audio voyage to worlds beyond. With a crisp, distinctive break and subtly buoyant 808 basslines, Frozen Realm sits long in the memory as the final revolutions fade into the abyss.
